Summer.Winter.Autumn.Spring.
I do love how they each have their own distinct footprint, drawing on an amazing pool of “signature” colours and who could forget nature morphing from one season to another – the real essence of its beauty.Whilst summer holds the number spot in my heart, running a very close second is SPRING.
Perhaps this is because spring is a whistle warning that lets us know the chill of winter is behind up and summer is just peeking around the corner.
Spring in own right brings a sense of rejuvenation and a chance to start a fresh. Visually our senses are awoken as through the damp, leaf sodden grounds below our feet, bright green stems appear and out bursts petals of vibrant hues that we have been so dearly missing in the winter months.
Mauves, pinks, yellows and tangerines… some pastel, some punchy but all a feast for the eyes!
For me my the one true indication that lets me know Spring has officially Sprung is when I am out walking around my suburb and I smell for the first time the enchanting perfume of Freesia’s that sporadically line the nature strip and poke their heads through peoples flowers beds. Just Exquisite.
If you haven’t already started to “spring-a-fy” your home or life, well here’s some of my top tips that are sure to make you feel fresh and happy…
1. Fill your home with beautiful blooms ( think poppies, jonquils, daffodils + freesia’s)
2. While you are at it, why not deliver a bunch to one of your beautiful friends
3. Visit the amazing Floral window displays at David Jones in the Sydney CBD – simply extraordinary
4. Venture out doors for a picnic with your family
5. Open up your windows and let in the fresh air – liberating and invigorating
And my final tip…
6. Grab your girls and have a Garden Tea party...
A large sheet of hessian in a cheap and durable table cloth that creates a lovely textured base that you can then decorate with pretty napkins and use eclectic vases (bottles, jars work well) and fill with a mix of colourful flowers.
Bunting & tissue paper pom poms help create a liveliness to your setting as they sway in the fresh spring breeze.
My favourite trick... Cocktails in Teapots...
Heck, I think I may have just convinced myself to bump summer off the top of the list but I know once I get the first aroma of coconut oil on a 30 degree day…. It will be back on its pedestal.
